Should be legal?

I remember that in 2020 there were a lot of strikes around the country specifically in E.E.U.U. and PR. Where the atrocious parts were was the fact that before we knew the places where we would expect the gunshots, now is anywhere. Could be on a shopping, traffic, neighborhood, anywhere! I even know people that have a gun on them. Safety doesn’t come with the porting of guns. Safety came by a balance system that is accessible to every person in any social status. Having a gun and normalizing the use of them in self defense is only making people think that they can do anything without a consequence. Why? Because they probably are going to appeal in self-defense. Now let’s imagine something more big, a shooting. The gun that was used was known by the law. Now, the person kills others, let’s say four and has twelve people that are injured where half of them are in a critical state. The condaine is going to be appealed by the fact that law enforcement provides the gun all together by the fact that the person is not in a good mental state so needs therapy. Therefore, the person it’s going to be in a mental institution. Justice is being made? It should, the law punish the killer and is trying to improve their mental state so it stops being a danger to society.

Now, what happened to the family that their kids were murder or the kids that got injured? We say sorry, others get sad for them and wish them the best of blessing and that it, case close. But, what do we do to stop this from happening all over again so other kids don’t get killed or injured physically or mentally? Nothing, that is the answer. Because apparently that is not an issue even though we go out on the street and yell out of our lungs no more gun violence, don’t let everybody have a gun, it’s ignored. Why? Because artillery is a good market that always has a demand. So why should we break that, anyway we are overpopulated?

DDT

During World War II people started to use pesticide DDT so the rate of Malaria decreased. In 1962 Rachel Carson published The Silent Spring where she explained the consequences of the excessive use of DDT. The book sold multiple copies of it making it to the top best sellers. Which makes various male scientists and reporters angry. An example of this is the environmentalist that said that Rachel C. was just promoting a mass murder. In the book she exposed tha mosquitoes are insects that constantly mutate to adapt to new places and circumstances. Years later after a decrease of Malaria the mosquito came back and this time more strongly making that the Malaria increased rapidly. However, let’s explain malaria, symptoms and rate of reproduction. Malaria is a parasite that infected mosquitoes and later on the mosquitoes infected the human. Infecting over 29 million people on a yearly basis. The symptoms vary through high fiber, chills, nauseas, diarrhea etc.
After the DDT mosquitoes got inmune scientific started checking out what to do so they can do so the Malaria decrease. Which makes Rachel C. say “Man is a part of nature, and his war against nature is inevitably, a war against himself.” Because at the end everything is a cycle making the humans receiving contaminated food, drinks, be in a world full of sickness, provoking that it’s the worst consequence of the chemicals. These chemicals would also affect human development and the hospital services. That leads me to the other point, which is the fact that hospital services are basically saturated and don’t have ways of saving the millions of people that get infected by malaria in Africa. So depending on the country it’s the way that malaria and the seriousness of it would be threatened.
As a young person I dont think Malaria is a not an infection that has a big effect on the USA or PR is more serious on the Old World, specifically Africa. However, it has alway been something wierd of how quickly this infection spread; making me think of the origin of this if it was a thing created or mutated by the human by error. Or if Africa actually has the power to get the infection increased but his political system just prefers to not do it.

New me

We could say that during breaks I’m the most bored person in the world, because I don’t do much. I usually stay in my house just chilling, resting, and other times working. However, this exact same thing makes me regret a lot of things. Because it is good to rest, but I prefer to enjoy my free time discovering new places, going to beaches and just reading new books. But a lot of the time I don’t have that possibility, but now that I can I am going to expense at the maximous. This also is a consequence of the fact that my birthday is during spring break and is my 18th birthday, which is more important than maybe other ages. Because for me it’s the realization that I’m going to suffer more drastics changes. Like I’m going to university, new life, new routines, new modality with the different responsibilities that I’m going to have and etc. It’s going to be a different person even if I don’t want to be that way. So I want to start right and to do it in the best way possible. Even though I have a lot of regrets in my short life, I don’t want to go back in time. I don’t really want to relive those situations even though I would choose a different choice.

I’m going to go to new rivers and beaches, have new adventures, be part of a pajama party, eat in new places etc.

The fashion of the censored

A book it’s more than a written page, it’s a new world. The main motive of books is to teletransport the reader to a new fantasy. So for the writer it’s very important and vital to write every necessary detail that can help the reader, every scenery, everything so they feel part of the story. Books are for everyone but not everyone books are for anyone. This is something that I constantly said to someone that said that they don’t like to read. It’s not that you don’t like to read it, just that you don’t like to read what people decide to give you. There are many genres so people can satisfy what they would like to be submerged in. It just defines what you would like to read. In my opinion it’s very important that people be defined so they can escape a little out of reality and also so they can learn new things and remind themselves the importance of values and the time. However, even for the books everything it’s not easy.  Because a lot often gets censored by figures of power such as politicians, religious people and the morality of the society.

It’s fine if you want that your kids don’t read certain things and a determinate age however as the article said “Parents may control what their own children read, but don’t have a right to restrict what books are available to other people.” The same it’s as another topic such as sexuality. If people would like to read about that topic and discover new themes and have more knowledge it’s completely fine. But for me books should be censored or banned except for those that talk about sex assault in a very explicit way, illegal topics, racism and those hate threats or about kids in a very inappropriate way. Minetime, it should be at discrease.

However, I think since the pandemic it’s more noticeable this conduct; this is because of tiktok. An app that has benign a popular way to inform and to get people to be entertained. Which is very reliable because I have seen how they try to ban books because of their way of thinking instead of saying “okay, I didn’t like this book, so I’m not going to read this type of genre or author”. This happened to kill a mockingbird. It’s a book that has a very good writing, a nice timeline, a good scenery and a very complete character while reporting a social controversy in a very constructive and informative way while they solve this controversy in a realistic way however it does not drain you of realism. But, society tried multiple times to ban it because of the “graphic way” of exposing the racism and the sex assault that the dad is defending.

Serralle Cattle

We pass some beautiful places and saw this beautiful mountains. The Serralle castle was built between 1930-1934 where the couple officially moved to the house in 1935. The house had a water system of 8,000 Gallons. Because of the early years of construction they didn’t do a very efficient job with the water system so at times the house would flood. So they did some steps so the water didn’t go to the rooms. Some things that left me perplexed were the ceiling of the formal lunch room because of the details that had. This building has always had light so they even had on the house an old television, radios, chandeliers etc.

Another very important thing is that the main economy of Ponce came from the cana de azucar . Even at this very same date all those acres that were full of cana de azucar today are an extensive and beautiful green vegetation. Beside the house tour, which teaches you a lot about the economy of PR you can enjoy a refreshment and a cocktail of different drinks that are made by the Seralle family.

Another important thing is that Ponce took the house in 1991 and since then it has been a museum. SO they recollect multiple things that Rosita selled such as the main bed. Nowadays you can visit the house and see multiple pieces of the house that are original to it. The reason behind is the fact that Rosita sold the house with all the furniture in. Rightnow the house has a cost of 10 million dollars. While the garden and the cruceta were made so when other countries came to PR to export things could be seen and identified. This is because at that time PR was a place very susceptible for pirates. So they did a vigilance place. This structure was made in 1984.

The final price was $15 to visit the Castle however it is a very enriching experience.

Its true or fake news?

Link: https://news.wfu.edu/2021/01/20/facts-and-fake-news-how-to-tell-the-difference/

A couple months before I read another article about fake news, specifically on science. But more than being specifically on science, it said that people tried to make complex topics easier so people could comprehend it better, making it fake because it eliminates crucial information making people misinform on the topic. This is commonly happening on tik tok and reels, because there are short videos “educating” people on a certain topic. While the article of Cherly Walker exposed the fact that this happens more than we think, even in things that you want to believe are true because they are part of your ideology, we have to be carefull. We can see this type of example on controversial topics, such as: news of politics, murders, religion etc. She also said that this trouble started to expand a lot more when the pandemic came, along with political polarization. So she recommended a couple of steps so we don’t fall into fake news. Some of them are: check the source, read carefully, don’t engage with the information …

Questions:

  1. Do you agree that tik tok is the principal social media that expreed fake news?
  2. Have you ever believed a fake news story about a famous person ?
  3. What are your tricks to not believe this type of thing?
  4. What factors make you believe on a website (news) ?
  5. Do you think the older generation is more sustainable to believe fake news?
